Shaping Our Future Leaders

CORE ACTIVITES

Australian Air League Sutherland Shire Squadron provides opportunities for the youth in the Sutherland Shire to reach their fullest potential through a wide range of services. Sutherland Shire Squadron meets every Friday night during school terms. Our parade nights consist of a range of activities including training in ceremonial drill, flight theory and physical activities.

Sutherland Shire Squadron prides itself on being a highly disciplined Squadron which is the foundation for our consistent success on the parade ground in field drill competitions. Ceremonial Drill helps develop many important attributes in our cadets including a commitment to self discipline, respect and leadership, and provides a strong basis for those members looking to pursue a future career in the Australian Defence Force.

Our flight theory training program encompasses a vast syllabus of aviation-related subjects, providing cadets the opportunity to obtain their Private Pilots Licence through the Australian Air League. We also offer a Diploma program to our members which is looked upon favourably by the Australian aviation industry for those members looking to explore a career in the airlines. The Air League has its own air wing based at Camden Airport which allows cadets to complement their technical training with practical flight experience.

Promoting a healthy and active lifestyle is one of the core philosophies of the Australian Air League, so physical activities forms a key component of our program. Physical activities ranges from various ball games conducted as part of our weekly parade nights, to state-wide swimming and athletics competitions, as well as PT, hiking and bush survival activities as part of our regular camps and field-based events.
